Alwington Communities (2017 - 2022)
President
Alwington is a condominium corporation management firm. Michael is actively involved in the operations of the firm and leads the growth of the firm through mergers and acquisitions.
Acquisitions:
- Purchase of Domus Property Management's Condominium Management business (2017).
- Purchase of J. Shaver and Associates, a mid-sized condominium management firm in Eastern Ontario (2021).
- Purchase of Limestone Property Management’s Condominium Management business (2021).
- Purchase of McMurdo Property Management’s Condominium Management business (2021).
- Purchase of River City Property Management (2022).
- Purchase of a book of business from Eastway Property Management (2022).
Chief Operating Officer
Michael founded and grew the firm through organic and and inorganic (acquisitive) growth strategies.
Michael is a Registered Condominium Manager (RCM), and a member of the Association of Condominium Managers of Ontario (ACMO).

Chief Operating Officer
As Chief Operating Officer, Michael’s responsibilities include supervising the operations of the firm across all 3 cities in which we operate: Oshawa, Kingston, and Barrie. He splits his time between each city, working with our General Managers and their teams. My primary role is to support the growth, training, and development of 32 team members as they strive to provide amazing experiences to our 1350 residents.
In addition to his day-to-day duties, he represents the firm by speaking at conferences, guest lecturing at business schools, and encouraging the next generation of business school graduates to pursue careers in real estate by volunteering his time at Queen's University career days.
General Manager
Michael joined Varsity as the first team member in Oshawa. Over the next year he hired and trained a team of 11 and together they brought online the firm's first institutional-scale property: Taylorwood Townhomes. The property featured 260 bedrooms in a stacked townhouse format, serving the students of Durham College and the University of Ontario Institute of Technology.
Over the next 2 years, Phases 2 and 3 of the community came online, and the Taylorwood Townhomes property grew into a thriving community of just under 500 students complete with a dedicated team, onsite management office, and community area.
In 2015 his responsibilities grew to include training and supervising the pre-leasing of Georgian Townhomes, a 360-bedroom student community in Barrie, Ontario.
As General Manager, he grew to supervise 14 competent, motivated and engaged staff across Oshawa and Barrie. He concentrated on building the systems that allow his firm to consistently improve our operations, scale, and take on new properties. His primary focus was on consistently delivering the exceptional services that residents know us for, and the superior NOI, leasing, and pre-leasing statistics that owners expect.
